The Instagram filter is a magical power bestowed upon Internet users since 2010. It allows anyone to powerfully alter reality, pack their life in a nicely coloured package, put a ribbon on it and present it to the world. Screw the 4:3 ratio of normal picture life, square is all that matters. Square is all that looks good. It’s hip to be square [as they said in a famous song in the 80s]. Instagram has turned everyone towards the most modern social media disease: mythomania. But hey, at least I know I don’t have it. I mean I have a great life and all, everything I post on Facebook is exactly as it is and I don’t secretly cry myself to bed at night.
