Brian Dettmer is a sculptor of books. He works with pages and paper rather than clay, and he does a darn fine job at turning used books—science books, yellow pages, and other old, unused and otherwise trashed literature—into modern sculptures that defy description. Working with a deft hand and an x-acto knife, Dettmer spins trash into gold.
