Amazing Photos of Miniature Apocalypse Replicas

The apocalypse is essentially a period of time during which civilization collapses (often accompanied with physical phenomena such as floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, meteorite impacts), resulting in the majority (if not all) of humanity being wiped out, and the cities of humanity collapsing into ruins.  This concept has been the subject of countless books, movies, TV shows and other media, and is one of the most popular stylistic settings in modern art.

Photographer Lori Nix is used to extreme weather conditions, growing up in the Midwest USA, and decided to create miniature dioramas of the apocalypse and photograph them.  Called ‘The City’, the meticulously constructed scenes are unbelievably small, only between 50×60 centimeters and as large as 182 centimeters in diameter.
