After spilling up to 39 million gallons of oil into the Gulf Coast with 11 BP employee casualties, these are a few pictures of the countless amounts of seabirds caught in the oil slick.

If the amount of oil leaking is not stopped soon, well lets just say it may be too late already. 2012 is now set in motion and this is the beginning of the end. Wait untill hurricane season dumps oily rain all over the southern United states, and it will kill all the plant life, including many citrus crops. Open your eyes! These chemicals kill everything it comes in contact with. After three months of contamenated rain, most of the southern U.S. will no longer even have drinkable water. The temperature is already reaching record highs for June in many places. That is not just a coincident. May God have mercy on us all. And everyone who has ever used an automobile is responciabl. This is a global catastrophy and people need to wake up and smell the coffee!

  • SWELL.

Excuse me, but I am a Floridian, and you need to close your douche-fucker mouth. Please and thanks. k? Good. That oil well has been there. And in Florida, one of the areas that will be most heavily affected by off-shore oil and spills that may happen, MOST PEOPLE, and all of the ones with common sense were OPPOSED to off-shore drilling (namely, starting new projects) because if such a catastrophe (like this one) were to happen, then it would be OUR ECONOMY that gets fucked. Please realize that much of Florida's economy is reliant on tourism and the health of it's beaches.

ANOTHER THING– in NO WAY is it “almost impossible to stop” this problem, or any such similar one. I cannot remember at the moment which country it was, I believe it was Iraq, who offered to help us fix the problem, because they have been dealing with oil spills for a lot longer than us and far more effectively. BP could have already fixed this problem if they REALLY CARED ENOUGH. –Why even bring Sarah Palin up?? NO ONE cares about her or her handicapped child and she was not involved in the discussion, you are simply adding more useless comments to a stream or uselessness.
Frankly, I for one don't blame the “conservatives when they aren't even in office”, I personally blame the IDIOTS, uneducated about the situations they deem it necessary to harp on about, such as yourself. People like you, who, obviously, would vote for us to DRILL IN THE SHALLOW WATERS WHERE MY STATE RECEIVES ITS LIVELIHOOD FROM. I ALSO BLAME THE GOVERNMENT FOR “EDUCATING” THE YOUTH IN SUCH A PATHETIC MANNER THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES OR DRAW ANY OF THEIR OWN CONCLUSIONS, AND THE MEDIA FOR BEING PUPPETS OF THE GOVERNMENT AND THE GOVERNMENT FOR BEING THE PUPPETS OF BIG BUSINESS. I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF LISTENING TO IGNORANCE BEING THROWN AROUND LIKE WATER IN THE DESERT, AND HAVING THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY DRINK IT UP AS IF IT WERE THERE LAST CHANCE OF SURVIVAL.

IF YOU WERE EDUCATED AND INTELLIGENT, NOT TO MENTION KNOWLEDGEABLE AND CONCERNED THEN YOU WOULD PUSH YOUR REPS TO SUPPORT ALTERNATIVE FUELS AND ENERGIES SO THAT WE REGAIN OUR ECONOMIC POSITION IN THE WORLD AND STOP FUCKING UP THE EARTH.

BUT THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HIGHLY ENLIGHTENING SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTARY MRH, IT WAS APPRECIATED. –*PSYCH* (SORRY FOR THAT LITTLE BIT OF CHILDISHNESS RIGHT THERE), IM INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED AND FED UP, AND NO, I WONT REMOVE IT BECAUSE SOMEONE MIGHT GET CONFUSED AND THINK MY THANKS WERE SINCERE.)

Just because they don’t deny it doesn’t necessarily mean anything. They don’t let ANYONE go in that hasn’t been seriously background checked, among other things. What goes on there is one of the most classified things the government/military has/does.

Yes, you can see pictures of it on Google Earth/maps. Bet you don’t see anything interesting going on there.

And yes, while big governments do that, ours promised it would not when it was founded, thus the ‘Unalienable Rights’ clause in the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights/First 10 amendments to the Constitution. And yes, I do realize the Constitution wasn’t until several years after the Declaration of Independence, so I would rather not hear someone comment on that.

  • Robert

You cannot honestly tell me you have not used an automobile, or something powered by a gasoline/diesel engine. So please, do not attempt to blame the world for something and make it seem as if you are innocent.

Granted, while it is a global catastrophe, it is technically in the US, and we all know how well we, the US, respond to outside help.
I mean seriously. There are geniuses all over the world, and our government ignores them and asks James Cameron, the director of movies such as Avatar and Titanic, to come up with a solution. Jesus Christ.

Oily rain? Funny I'm pretty sure that is scientifically impossible.

And if you are so religious, you'll know that in the bible it says NO ONE will know when the end will be. So the fact that the Maya and you claim it'll be 2012, means it WON'T be.

  • Dolfan29

First of all, do you realize what products are made from oil. Everyone on here talks about other fuels and the automobiles that are responsible for this disaster. The largest use of petroleum products is not for gas or diesel or any other fuel it is in the plastics industry. So any one on hear that wants to give up their vehicle because of how fossile fuels are destroying the earth also needs to give up their plastics and the millions of other things in our daily live that come from drilling. BP needs to be held responsible for this and so do any other co out there that wants to drill, but before we shut down all the oil companys maybe you need to look at the whole picture of what oil gives us not just fuel for our automobiles.

  • Esko74

thats interesting I didnt know that…if it is true you make a valid point

  • Lee

Oil is not the only way to make plastics, nor is it the most effective. Drilling into the earth for a specific mix of hydrocarbons is primitive and barbarous, yet the power of the oil industry has made it impossible for alternatives to compete with their privileged status

Its interesting that something so sad brings out so much hatred. We are so quick to grab a laptop and launch some ridiculous words about how this person did this, or that person didn't do that, and of course they are now the devil incarnate. Ever consider its the hatred/greed of the average human being that causes all this (I'm not talking about BP, although their greed is evident.) Maybe instead of hiding behind a computer screen and running off your mouth at some person you will never have to face, you start to do something to make the world better. Treat people with respect, and do your best to be a part of this world. Don't just tear others apart and make yourself look stupid in the process.

Someone posts pictures of animals in oil. Its terribly saddening. Lets yell and scream about politics while the animals die. What a great species we humans are.

its funny to read the mix of dumb and smart comments…..BUT, there are many people with solutions to clean up the oil, from flour to common hay – and they work. the big question is why these methods are not being set into motion. wonder how upset these people would be if they found out how many oil wells are actually out in the water close to our coast, and its not just BP – they just happen to be in the spotlight right now. the funny part is that we, the US, have never been allowed to drill where everybody else is, that is the greatest crime here. and for everybody here talking about how bad oil and oil products are – you are a contributor, yes – you!! because you are posting on a laptop or computer or phone which would not be in your possession if not for oil and oil products. and for the 2012 guys, same song, different century. the world is not coming to an end, global warming is a joke, and al gore did not invent the internet……..

It is completely beyond me~~ I think part of the reason is because most people are either in denial that that this is really happening, or it is the text book case of “the bystander effect” everyone thinks someone else is going to take care of it. I see so many ways to stop the leak, and to clean up the oil, and to save our wildlife, but everyone is sitting around waiting for BP or Obama to do it. BP apparently is our new dictator, giving everyone orders on what we can and cannot do to protect our wildlife and environment. Even the government and the EPA, judges, and president are obeying BP, a company. ?? It is beginning to look more like a terrorist attack in disguise to me. I hope that is just my “wild imagination”, but whatever the cased, BP is being very casual about stopping the leak, saving the wildlife, and our land. Meanwhile, everyone is obeying their orders. Yet, supposedly BP is more concerned about PR than saving the water, land, animals or humans. And we supposed to sit on our hands and act like “everything is normal”…. right. As if normal is being asleep, like some kind of zombee, the walking dead has not clue to the scope of the situation. Oh, it's on the other side of Florida, so its not effecting me right now? Are people really that stupid? What on earth? Thank God I am finding some humane humans!

  • Mba Psy Consultant

True, true. We can waste a lot of our personal energy on anger. We can become so consumed that the wildlife are not being responded to. That is really what is important on right now. And hopefully the appropriate criminal charges will be made against the unethical and ruthless. The wildlife are needing our full attention. I am really all for the peace, compassion and kindness too, but there definitely needs to be serious consequences for this horrible crime. Without consequences to change the patterns of behavior, history will repeat until then. Psychology 101. I am all for forgiveness and peace on earth, but I think this is more of a time to take a stand, and speak for those who cannnot speak for themselves, turtles, dolphins, pelicans, etc. We do have a responsibility to forgive the criminal for our own self healing, but enforcement I feel needs to be the pressing point. I have called BP with a kind voice about 8 out of 12 times. I am really trying!!!

  • Mba Psy Consultant

Part of what I am angry about is that BP has been doing controlled burns, while already endangered sea turtles are caught in the boons, being burned alive. It's kind of hard to be all forgiving and compassionate, thinking about peace in the world, when evil deeds are killing innocent and sacred lives.

I am a spiritual person, and this is a disgrace to God! I assure you if Jesus walked the earth in the flesh today, he would be turning over tables! :)

but has anyone ever thought for what such ghastly mistakes are forgiven and forgotton ?…and who helps them to keep this kind of moolah safe?…and the best part is they publicly support environmental causes and have awards too…..the question arises who is responsible and what should be their justice?

Who is responsible?!…Who is responsible?!!!, COME ON PEOPLE! WAKE UP!, we are all responsible. It's about supply and demand. And all of you demand oil! Now that there has been a mishap with one of our suppliers, you want to start pointing fingers and blaming everyone except yourself. It's no different than a junkie crackhead dying from an overdose and then blaming the dealer……well, there wouldn't be a dealer if there wasn't junkies demanding crack! And as blackhearted as Canbeaver and Bgrossall seem, I hate to agree with them…it is natural… be thankful it's not a nuclear plant meltdown!…wow? please be an active part of the discussion and contribute with some educated comments.

Human nature will never change, we Humans have been this way from the start, “GREEDY” We evolved from dirty Apes to become Humans and I for one am proud of the Human Race, WE ARE A GREAT SPECIES! and if you don't want to be a part of it, then go back to living in the jungle with the dirty Apes like Jane Goodall. What makes us great is that we can fix our problems and if the leak dones't get plugged, then the oil will run dry and we'll deal with it then. Like mentioned earlier by someone who seems to be on the right track…. the oil is natural and the balance of mother nature wouldn't put too much oil in one place that it couldn't naturally repair itself. RELAX!!!

    Sorry… that’s Spanish, not French.

  • Gramps

Unfortunately, the various chemicals used in photovoltaic cells (which are in your solar panels) are usually obtained through strip-mining, and are refined using VERY toxic chemicals that are most difficult to dispose of, and often seep into the freshwater supply of the surrounding area.

  • Gramps

Nice, but you missed one… nuclear power. Everyone thinks about Three-Mile Island and Chernobyl when you mention nuclear power… bad examples — TMI didn’t hurt anyone and was NOT a “nuclear” event, and the reactors in most of the rest of the world are not built like the graphite-cooled ones the Soviets used to build (like the one at Chernobyl). There are currently 104 nuclear-powered generation sites in the US, generating about 20% of the power. Conversely, there are around 1500 coal-burning power plants that generate only twice (44% of) the US’ power, and produce FAR more hazardous waste. Many of you younger folks weren’t around when the NE US had the big problem with “acid rain” (did you think that was something to do with LSD?)… and have no idea how bad things were because of the industrial emissions in that part of the country.

  • Dkelley

I'm American. Darwin1 is an imbecile. I guess you (Darwin1) come from a school of thought where “ignorance is bliss”?

Read here for some of the health hazards of those exposed your apparently harmless and “natural” oil – http://www.sciencecorps.org/crudeoilhazards.htm

Without the help of man drilling for the “natural” oil (as you so misleadingly label it), the stuff would not be flooding the waters and killing the surrounding habitat. It would be way below the earth's crust. Down there is where it's “natural” and is where mother nature produces and sustains it. I'm not saying that our societies don't rely on the oil industries. Drilling is something that, at least at this point, we are required to do for sustenance of many industries and amenities that we all rely on every day. But that's not an excuse for what's going on. That's not an excuse for these human mistakes that are leading to all this devastation. Your response is ridiculous and has no rational bearing at all. I hope, as an excuse, that you're at least on BP's payroll and are getting something else out of leaving asinine comments regarding this purely man-made tragedy.

  • philphilphil

How do you know he's American? He is full of shit though, regardless of where he's from. Hahah

  • Darwin1

I'm an American also, and I for one am completely and totally disgusted with this Country and the way it is governed, our beloved land and the people that call this toilet “home” are becoming the laughing stock of the world. Businesses come to our land and do as they please and we let them. We need to become more like Canada or for that matter even the French that don't put up with this shit. But it still doesn't change the fact that the oil issue is not as much of a problem as you or your “extremest”, wed site make it out to be….Stop believing ever thing you read and think for yourself for once….once again “typical American”, listening to all the bullshit, thinking how people want you to think and doing as your told, it's in part to people like you that make me wish I didn't live in this awful, awful Country!

  • Tvguy

Woooowwww! This is getting heated, although Darwin1 is making no friends, what so ever! including myself, I must admit he/she is making some extremely valid, down to earth points. Sometimes the truth hurts, but thats the type of person this worlds needs. Someone who is not afraid to speak their mind and think for themselves. Not someone who refers to web sites as their resource. Darwin1-1 vs All Others-0
