Most people use paintbrushes and other drawing utensils to compose their art on canvases and paper. Cheeming Boey on the other hand, uses a Sharpie and depicts his art on Styrofoam cups. Ever since 2006, Boey started drawing on foam cups as a hobby and has now turned into a serious business. Each cup takes a few hours to several months to create and is sold for hundreds of dollars around the world.

Check out Boey’s entire collection of cup artwork on his Flickr page.

Market one of these to Lil Wayne. Maybe it could be a Hydrocodone molecule?

    Just a thought.

If it's (the styrofoam) gonna stick around forever, it might as well be beautiful.

Hey, who doesn't have free styrofoam cups at work? You can't mark on Slurpee cups because of the wax coating. Nessecity isn't just the mother of invention, it's also cheaper.

    THESE ARE AMAZING!

I might try this myself since I love sharpies and I love to draw…
Great source of inspiration too =D

Isn't this the definition of reuse? Making art out of trash is a great idea. Nobody wants to throw them away now. Regardless of the material – now it's worth saving. Kudos.

you're an ass who can't appreciate talent. having a “real job” has nothing to do with anything. don't judge the artist just because you fail at creativity and probably have no talent at all. how do you know what a “real job” is anyway? all you know is what society tells you.. and society has a lot of warped opinions that differ from reality. and at least he's creating something beautiful with his time… all you're doing is sitting on your ass and browsing the web and talking shit about the stuff you find; as if that's productive.. why don't you “get a real job”. ass hole.

Maybe it's because I get easily bored, but I've been doing this type of drawing on disposable cups (styrofoam included)/napkins/edges of junkmail/mags/menus etc. etc. since I was a teen (I'm now in my mid-30's/F). I have had many “artistic renderings” with Sharpies on styrofoam too, but have always thrown them away!

To think of all those masterpieces I had thrown away…why if I had a penny…

This is amazing! i wish i were that talented!

  • zykenzie

I could just imagine some unknowing person using one of these cups, and then ripping it apart, and the owner just like falling to pieces over the sharpie-drawn-on styrofoam cup that he or she just paid a gajillion dollars for. lol

Really inspirational work, man! Also, just so you know, when I type into the “Name” and “Email” and “website” forms, the text is white so it doesn't show up on the white background. I am using the latest firefox browser. Hope that helps you with your bugs!

WOW! I loved looking at these! Everyone who said you're talented is totally correct (ignore the ass-wipes who condemn it – What do they know?). You're work is really awe inspiring. You could make some in certain themes and donate them to a charity auction, I'll bet. They'd make some good money, and you'd be doing something you enjoy to fill your time!

Keep on doing what you enjoy!
