05/31/10 – Per CBS's Sunday Morning program there is a book of a collection of such photographs called, Painting with People the Photography of Arthur S. Mole, By Eric T. Mole… and thats all I could find so far.
Anyone know where one might find it?
    Thanks
And as for the rest of you – it's art.
Apparently you didn't like it, – move on.
I doubt there was any underhanded political agenda in mind when the photos were taken other than patriotism.
Yes the artist retouched the negative in his shop to remove superfluous shadows & equipment and to help clarify the shape call it early photo shop, thus the name.
Yes he used U.S. service men and women and as such they could have been asked to stand any where, at any time, and typically it's between us and a threat. I thank them for that.
Waste of money? It wasn't yours unless you were born before 1918 and actually contributed something to society by then.

Jandi- I agree with you totally. I've been searching and unable to find it. Did you have any luck?

Not confirmed but this is what I found after nearly giving up and then turning the search over to my daughter.
She said she found that the book was actually printed and published by a museum with the the authority of it's curator. The curator died within the last year or so and as happens priorities and the publishing seems to have been stopped. I don't think there is any ISBN number but one was given as a gift to the Library of Congress.
I got involved with other things and put this pursuit on hold however your response has reminded me and I will probably re-acquire the info from my daughter and try to contact the museum to see if any are available or perhaps suggest they could print again in the hopes of collecting some much needed funds in this current economics hard times.
I will leave additional info here as it develops.
    Thank You

no – pics taken over 60 years ago.

Ged bless them? They're already damned if they're naive enough to think their cause is noble.

  • ??

Many of those pics were taken in the time periods of WWII. Do you consider that American's roles in that event part of a non-noble cause?

  • Do you think they did this all the time?

I don't understand what you're trying to say. Regardless of how long ago the photos were taken, those soldiers were still paid for with tax dollars.
Unless you really think there was no such thing as taxes over 60 years ago, in which case I hate to be the one to burst your bubble.

  • You're an idiot.

  • Seriously?

@?? Uhh, dude 1917 was the WWI era (WWII was fought from '39-'45). And Guest, you're entitled to your opinions, but just know that these men are putting their lives on the line so you can sit at your computer and talk sh*t about them. I'm one of them.

I'm in the Iowa National Guard and work at Camp Dodge (site of the human Statue of Liberty) – it is featured in our Museum on post and some fun facts: The flame has 3x as many soldiers as the body of the statue, and its something like 2-3x longer than the real statue is high in order to get the correct perspective
